Launching ceremony of research studies on gender-based violence organized by Department of Social Welfare Punjab and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) was held at a local hotel in Lahore. Provincial Minister Social Welfare Punjab Dr. Javed Akram was the chief guest of the event. On this occasion, Secretary Women Development Department Sumaira Samad, Director General Social Welfare Punjab Muddassir Riaz Malik, Assistant Country Representative (UNFPA) Dr. Rubina Ali, FCDO official Ali Naqvi, DG Punjab Women Protection Authority Irshad Waheed, government officials and Representatives of non-governmental organizations were present. The research papers presented at the event focused on the obstacles faced by women victims of gender-based violence and their access to government institutions and facilities.
