Under the Chief Minister Punjab “Assistive Devices & Wheelchair Program,” a ceremony for the distribution of wheelchairs and assistive devices to persons with disabilities was held at the Directorate General of Social Welfare. Provincial Minister for Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Punjab, Sohail Shaukat Butt, attended the event as the chief guest. A total of 111 deserving persons with disabilities from District Lahore were provided with electric wheelchairs and other assistive devices. Addressing the ceremony, the Provincial Minister stated that 12,245 assistive devices, including manual and electric wheelchairs, tricycles, walkers, and other aids, have been distributed to persons with disabilities across Punjab. He reaffirmed the Punjab Government’s commitment to empowering persons with disabilities to lead dignified and independent lives, stating that the vision of a “Disability-Free Punjab” is steadily becoming a reality. The provision of Himmat Cards, wheelchairs, and assistive devices reflects a significant step toward strengthening the welfare state. Additional Secretary Social Welfare Ms. Amina Munir, Director General Social Welfare Tariq Qureshi, and officers of the department were also present.
