The Centre for Public Policy and Governance (CPPG), Forman Christian College (FCC) with coopration of Social Welfare Department launched a project “Social Welfare Department: Provincial face of interaction and regulation of NGOs” on 11-11-2016.
The project is being supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Small Grants and Ambassador Fund Programme (SGAFP) and will be carried out in collaboration with the Punjab Social Welfare Department and Bait-ul-Maal. The project aims to conduct a detailed institutional assessment of the Social Welfare Department and provide capacity-building support to the department officials and affiliated NGOs in order to improve the role, function and capacity of the department. The project is timely and relevant in the context of recent developments in the oversight and regulation of NGOs by the government, in particular the implementation of a new policy for the registration of International NGOs (INGOs) in Pakistan.
