UNODC Regional Conference on Migrants Smuggling Attended by DG SW dated 24-25/10/2017

Mr. Waheed Akhtar Ansari, Director General, Directorate General of Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal, Punjab attended a conference on 24-25/10/2017 held at Marriott Islamabad. The conference was organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC).  The objectives of the conference were to further strengthen law enforcement cooperation in the region by bringing together officials to discuss emerging trends and patterns of human trafficking and migrant smuggling, to share and exchange information concerning best practices and emerging national trends, to present best practices for improving border security and building cooperative relationships with respect to investigations, prosecutions and protection of victims and to enable participants to network with the relevant international experts. The conference was attended by Mr. Cesar Guedes, the UNODC Pakistan country representative, Federal Minister of Interior Ahsan Iqbal, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed.Representatives from 13 strategically selected countries: Belarus, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Kyrgyz Republic, Lao PDR, Mali, Morocco, Nepal, Niger, Pakistan, South Africa, and Ukraine participated in the event.
