Secretary SW & BM chaired meeting regarding various welfare initiatives and programs for PWDs

Secretary Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Department Punjab, Saira Omar, chaired important meetings regarding various welfare initiatives and programs. A meeting was held on the Himmat Card being issued to students of the Special Education Department, attended by officials from the Bank of Punjab, PITB, and the Special Education Department, where a detailed briefing on the progress achieved so far was provided. The Secretary Social Welfare directed Director General Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Punjab, Dr. Shahinshah Faisal Azim, to make the necessary arrangements for organizing an inaugural ceremony for the distribution of Himmat Cards among Special Education students. Similarly, a meeting regarding the Council on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) was held, with directions issued to ensure early implementation of the decisions taken in the previous meeting. Matters related to the Skill Development Centre for PWDs were also reviewed, and the Deputy Director NGOs was instructed to visit the institution and submit a detailed report on its performance. Furthermore, a meeting regarding the Punjab Welfare Trust for the Disabled was conducted, where a briefing on the Trust’s performance and progress was provided, and the Secretary Social Welfare emphasized that the facilities under the Trust should be further enhanced to benefit a greater number of persons with disabilities.
