A meeting of Provincial Council for Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons held under the Chairmanship of Secretary, Government of the Punjab, Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Department on 26-11-2015 at 11 a.m. Mrs. Shaheen Atiqur Rehman, Vice Chairperson, Bunyad Foundation; Mian Tariq, MPA; Justice Amir Raza, President, Ameen Maktab; Dr. Izhar Hashmi, Director, Punjab Welfare Trust for Disabled; Mr. Sohail Anwar, CEO, Social Protection Authority; Mr. Irshad Waheed, Director (Prog.) and representatives from Planning & Development, Higher Education, Zakat & Ushar, Labour & Human Rights, Lahore Chamber of Commerce, Trade Unions, Information & Culture also attended the meeting. The Council took several legislative and policy measures to assist Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) including deliberation of Guidelines for Assessment and Identification of persons with disabilities. Draft of Provincial policy for Persons with Disabilities is under consideration with the Council. The Council member appreciated and acknowledged the efforts of Social Welfare Departmentmade for the employment of persons with disabilities both in public and private sector.
