District Industrial Home is a training cum production center and commonly known as SANATZAR. This scheme was launched back in 1979 with the aim to provide an opportunity for the socio-economic uplift of women in each district. In the period of 1994-1996, Sanatzar was established in Lodhran, Pakpattan, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Narowal. Presently, 36 Sanatzars are working in Punjab at District Head Quarters.
The basic idea behind this scheme was to utilize the spare time of women by training them in various crafts and on the other to make them financially sound so that they can contribute in the income of their families by arranging center/ order work for trained workers
Willing women from all stratums without any age limit and qualification are eligible to get training as well as to establish a center and take work orders. Only computer training requires relevant qualification.
There are no hard and fast rules for admission. The applicant can get admission on prescribed form along with relevant documents like CNIC, photograph etc.

- Dress making
- Hand/ machine embroidery
- Cooking/ Baking
- Leather work
- Tie and Die
- Dry Flower arrangement
- Food presentation
- Making of washing powder, shampoo, jam, pickle etc.
Center and Order Work
Trained workers are provided with center and order work and wages are given to them for the same. In order to provide regular monetary benefit to the workers, products (i.e. center work) are given to them throughout the year other than order work and these products are sold in local market and through arranging exhibitions.
Sanatzar also arranges exhibitions to sale center work and it also provides an opportunity to other women to sell their products.
Trained workers are offered entrepreneurship skills/ opportunities through training and building links with stakeholders.
Collaboration with Other Institutions
Sanatzar collaborates with other institutions to get benefit from their new concept of training as well as to boost up the sales of center work. Presently, the department collaborated with NAVTTC and giving trainings to women.
