International Day for Persons with Disabilities was observed on 3rd December by Social Welfare & Bait ul Maal Department at 90- Shahrha-e-Quaid e Azam, Lahore. Pervaiz Malik (Member National Assembly) was chief guest on this occasion. Haroon Rafique (Secretary Social Welfare), Dr. Amjad Saqib (Managing Director Punjab Welfare Trust for Disabled), Amir Ashraf (General Secretary Pakistan Blind Association), Shafiq-u-Rehman (President Milestone Society for Special Persons), Sh. Pervaiz Inam Elahi (Representative Lahore Chamber of Commerce), Farhat Aslam (General Secretary Deaf Welfare Association) Junaid (GM Human Resource Metro Cash & Carry) and a number of people from disabled community attended the event aiming to promote a better understanding on disability issues focusing on the rights of persons with disabilities. |

| International White Cane Safety Day | |

Social Welfare Department, City District Government Lahore celebrated “International White Cane Safety Day” on dated 19-10-2015 at Social Welfare Training Institute, Township, Lahore. The chief guest of this event M. Haroon Rafique, Secretary Social Welfare & BM, Punjab highlighted the efforts of Government of the Punjab regarding 3% disabled quota in Government/Public sector as well as private sector. He also shared that almost 3500 posts has been announced for disabled quota throughout Punjab in different departments and more than 1500 disabled persons recruited for Government jobs in which more than 350 persons were blind. Similarly, registration process of blind persons has also been continued for further facilitation. At the end of the function, the honorable chief guest distributed White Sticks among blind persons and students present there.
