For the welfare of the senior citizens, the Department is providing eservices in the form of 'Old Age Homes'.
Old Age Home
Social Welfare Department established first old age home in 1975 in Lahore. Later, 6 more Old Age Homes were established in the districts of Multan, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Narowal, Sahiwal and Toba Tek Singh. These homes are providing quality services including shelter, food, health care and recreational facilities to old and infirm persons of the society. All such Institutions have the capacity to accommodate total 300 persons (50 residents per institution) at a time.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the admission is as follows:
- Every Punjab Senior Citizen above 60 years of age is eligible for admission without any discrimination of gender, caste, creed and religion.
- Senior Citizens having non-communicable diseases like diabetes, blood pressure etc. can apply for admission. Self-reliant person who does not need any assistance to perform his/her day-to-day tasks is eligible for admission.
- Elderly persons with serious or contiguous diseases, insane, and having any acute disability shall not entertain.
- Priority shall be given to those who are destitute, vulnerable, issueless and have no source of income.
- Senior citizens having reasonable source of income will not be considered for admission.
Admission Procedure
Admission procedure includes:

Admission shall be granted after the receipt of application. Following can refer elderly person:
- Government/Semi-Government Organizations
- NGOs/CSOs/ Registered Volunteer Social Welfare agencies
- Siblings/offspring’s/Relative of senior citizen
- Hospitals/Line Departments
- Political representatives of Local Councils/Chairman Local Zakat Council
- Philanthropist/Advisory Committee
- Direct cases.
- Detailed data of children/relatives including contact numbers, address, occupation, monthly income shall be recorded on Admission Form.
- The applicant shall be liable to provide bank details. (if any)
- Every elderly shall be examined by respective DHQ/THQ within one week of admission. Fitness certificate (physical & mental) must be provided by applicant within one week of admission.
