To prevent drug addiction, Model Drug Abuse Centers are rendering services in 10 Hospitals of Punjab. There are six centers in Lahore at Mayo Hospitals ,Services Hospital ,Mental Hospital ,General Hospital ,Jinnah Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital ,one each at Multan in Nister Hospital ,Bahawalpur in BV Hospital, Faisalabad in DHQ Hospital and Rawalpindi in General Hospital.
Furthermore,Health Department has allocated 10 beds in different hospital of Punjab. Social welfare Department has also deputed Medical Social Officer (MSOs) in these hospitals to provide services to the addict patients.
Following services are provided to the drug addicts by MSOs:
- Preparation of case histories
- Psycho-social counseling of addicts and families
- Individual and group counseling
- Rehabilitative therapies including religious/recreational activity
- Dissemination of awareness material on drug addiction.
- Post discharge services, follow-up and home visits.
