Home for Special persons (Nasheman) was established in 1989 at Social Welfare Complex, Township Lahore with the objective to provide professional care, training and rehabilitative services to persons with disabilities. Besides this, it is also envisaged to provide placement services after training along with counseling and follow up. Presently the institution has capacity to accommodate 100 residents including 50 Day Scholars and 50 Boarders. Currently Nasheman (Home for Disabled) working in Punjab. Other than Lahore, one at Bahawalpur and one at Faisalabad.
Eligibility Criteria
The criteria is enlisted below:
- Four categories of persons with disabilities including physically handicapped, visually impaired, hearing impaired and slow learners aging between 18 to 50 years domiciled of Punjab are eligible to apply
- The certificate of the District Assessment Board is mandatory for admission
- The applicant with any infectious disease is not eligible
Admission Procedure
- Any PWDs desirous of seeking admission in the institution is required to apply on the prescribed form available in the office of institution.
- The trainee can stay in hostel during the training duration. Extension of stay beyond course period is not granted in any case.
- Admission is made on merit after an assessment by admission committee.
Facilities
Nasheman provides following facilities to its residents:
- Free boarding and lodging
- A monthly stipend ammounting to Rs.1500/- for boarders and Rs.1000/- for day scholars
- Pass out PWDs referred to different Government and non-Government agencies for job placement or microcredit facilities.
